Readings for June 11th

We are starting a Young Adults' Organisation!

The English-speaking Mission is starting a Young Adults' Organisation under the guidance of Fr. Hippolytus Anyanwu. This organisation will consist of our young adults from the age of 18 and above.

If you are interested in joining this group, please register by sending an email to esmfaith@gmail.com to give us your name and signal your interest. Alternatively, you can leave your name and email in the registration book placed at the back of church.

The first meeting and the venue will be communicated by the group leaders via email.

Registration First Holy Communion preparation

Classes for our First Holy Communion preparation program at St. Bernard's are due to start in September 2023. Classes are Sundays, 10:00 h in the St. Bernard's community center classroom. Parents who wish to enroll their children (age 8+ ) in our preparation program are asked to please contact the ESM Office via email at alsda46@aol.com.  If your child is baptized, please attach a PDF scan of the baptismal certificate. If your child is not yet baptized, please indicate this in your email. The office will collect your name and details and provide you with the necessary registration form.

The communal celebration of Holy Mass with their peers and families is a key component of a young child's formation in the Catholic faith. Therefore, there is an expectation for families to attend Sunday Mass in the English-speaking Mission during the time of preparation (directly following the 10 am class). Families who are unable to commit to this are asked to defer enrollment until they can do so.

Tuesday Evening Lectio Divina Group - Diving into the Sunday Readings

The traditional monastic practice of Lectio Divina (Latin for “holy/divine reading”) provides a way to enter into Sacred Scripture as a living Word for our time. Lectio Divina becomes more about divine listening than divine reading when we take the time to do it. This is why we pray Lectio Divina — to become better listeners of the Lord, to hear more clearly what God is asking of us - opening ourselves to peace, gratitude, and living rooted in Christ.

First Friday Mass

Friday Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard's on the first Friday of the month.

First Fridays are traditionally dedicated to the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Christian Literary Club Meeting

Please join us for the Christian Literary Club on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 20.00 (8pm). Women at the Well - Women's Group

Women of all ages are welcome to join our “Women at the Well” group. We meet weekly on Monday mornings between 10:15-11:15am on Zoom, to pray with the Book of Proverbs through Lectio Divina.

God made us for community, to share His love, so this is also a time for laughter, friendship, support, encouragement and spiritual growth.
